How do I configure automatic call forwarding or call transfers?

Before configuring, select your phone number. To do so, in your Subscriber Area interface, go to the Telephony tab and click on Choose your number. On this page, you can select your service number, that is, the one associated with your phone service at B2B2C that you want to configure.

Call forwarding

To control your call transfers, go to the Telephony tab on your Subscriber Area interface, click on the Configuration tab and then on Telephony settings.

After this, click on the Manage my numbers directory hyperlink to define and edit the numbers you want to be able to transfer your calls to. This directory allows you to easily choose the destination of your transfer among your usual numbers. You can add a number at any time to keep long terme or for temporary use. Save your changes or cancel them to return to the previous page.

Configure one, multiple or all transfer options. Note that the Unconditional one will supersede the others is activated.

Unconditional: All calls are forwarded.

Busy: Calls are forwarded when the line is busy.

On Timeout: Calls are forwarded after a number of rings with no answer.

Number of Rings: This number represents the number of rings your voicemail will wait before answering calls. Adjust it so that it gives you the time to easily answer your calls before it engages.

Unavailable: Calls are forwarded if the line is not in service.

How to place a long distance and international call?

If you wish to place a long distance call, please note that long distance calls within North America (zone 1) can be made with or without the “1” before dialing the recipient’s 10-digit number (area code + seven-digit number).  The rate for these calls will be the same regardless of the dialing format used.

If you wish to make an international telephone call outside of North America you must be preceded the number of the called party by the digits “011” followed by the country code.

How to send and receive faxes?

If you have subscribed to this service, you can send faxes by e-mail by sending a document in PDF format to the following address: [NumberOfYourFaxService]@mail2fax.b2b2c.ca

The number for your fax service is the number you receive faxes on. It must be written in the address following the E.164 format, so without spaces or “-” and always with the “1” first. For example: 15145551555@mail2fax.b2b2c.ca

The destination number must be the only entry in the subject and written in E.164 format, so for example 15145551555. Also, if the content of the email contains only text without formatting (in “Plain Text”, and not “Rich “or HTML) this will be added to the sent attachment.

Confirmation that the fax has been sent is not delivered to the email address that sent it, but rather to the email address that you have defined for receiving fax messages in the Subscriber Area. If you want to reconfigure this email, do so by selecting the Configuration tab of the Telephony section, then click on Telephony settings. On this page, go down to the Fax configuration section and click on Change under the Email address field to modify it.

How do I use star codes on my phone line?

Your phone service supports a number of features controlled by dialing “*” followed by two numbers. On this page, we define the functions that can be enable by these star codes.

Forwarding to your voice mailbox

In each of the call forwards defined below you can direct calls to your voice mailbox using 2000 as the destination number. For example, for forwarding on busy, dial *90*2000.

Call Forward (Unconditional)

Dial *72 to enable call forward unconditional , for example to 15149085420 by dialing *72*15149085420, and disable it by dialing #72.

Use this type of forwarding when you want all calls to be forwarded immediately to another number.

Also, be aware that if you forward to a number that has long distance charges, you will be charged for those charges.

Call forward to your voicemail : In this specific case, dial *722000, and disable it also by dialing #72.

Note that there will be no indication on the actual line that a call is being forwarded.

Call Forwarding on Busy

Dial *90 to enable call forwarding on busy, for example to 15149085420 by dialing *90*15149085420, and disable it by dialing #90.

Use this type of forwarding when you want calls to be redirected when the phone line is busy.  Only one call forwarding at a time is possible.

Note that there will be no indication on the actual line that a call is being forwarded. Also, be aware that if you forward to a number that has long distance charges, you will be charged for those charges.

Call forwarding on Timeout

Dial *92 to enable call forwarding on timeout, for example after 30 seconds of ringing, to 15149085420 by dialing *92*30*15149085420, and disable it by dialing #92.

Use this type of transfer when you want to transfer calls when there is no answer.  Your calls will be transferred to the other number if no one answers after four rings.

Note that you must stay on the line for at least five seconds or call transfer will not be activated.  Also, there will be no indication on the current line that a call is being forwarded. Finally, be aware that if you forward to a number that has long distance charges, you will be charged for those charges.

Call forwarding on Non Available

Dial *93 to activate call forwarding on service not available, for example to 15149085420 by dialing *93*15149085420, and deactivate it by dialing #93.

This type of transfer will apply when your telephone service is cut, for example because your Internet access is not available.

Note that you must stay on the line for at least five seconds or call transfer will not be activated.  Also, there will be no indication on the current line that a call is being forwarded. Also, be aware that if you forward to a number that has long distance charges, you will be charged for those charges.

Block Incoming Anonymous Calls

Dial *32 to enable the incoming anonymous call blocking and disable it by dialing #32.

Use this type of blocking if you want to reject calls that have decided to block the displayed on the caller ID. When an incoming anonymous caller attempts to call and the blocking is activated, the person will hear a message telling them to hang up and remove their blocking if they wish to call again.

Forwarding to your voice mailbox

Activate forwarding on busy to your voice mailbox using 2000 as the destination number. For example, dial *90*2000. Disable it by dialing #90.

Note that there will be no indication on the actual line that a call is being forwarded.

How to change the wireless network name (WiFi SSID ) of the Smart RG 516ac modem

The Smart RG 516ac operates two networks on two separate frequencies, 5.6 and 2.4 Ghz. The name (SSID) of each of these networks may be different for each. We recommend including “5.6” and “2.4” in their names to make it easy for users to select the desired network. Here’s how to do it, in stages.

1 Access the management panel

Follow the method presented in the “How to access the Smart RG Management Panel?” linked at the bottom of this page.

2 5 Ghz network

Select the following section from the menu : Wireless-> 5 Ghz band-> Basic

Delete the contents of the « SSID » box and enter the new desired network name.

Click Apply / Save

3 2.4 Ghz network

Select the following section from the menu : Wireless-> 2.4 Ghz band-> Basic

Delete the contents of the « SSID » box and enter the new desired network name.

Click Apply / Save

4 After the change

After the changes are saved, the modem will turn off the wireless networks (WiFi) and restart them without your intervention. The modem does not need to be rebooted.

Note that if you use the modem’s wireless access (WiFi) to access its management panel, you will be unplugged from this panel and the network. Access the wireless network (WiFi) with the new name and access the panel again to make other changes.

5 Reconnect your equipment

Remember to reconnect all your equipment over the wireless network (WiFi) using the new name. The 2.4 network is slower than the 5.6 Ghz, but often has a longer reach.

6 In case of problems

If, after changing the name, you no longer have access to the network, start by restarting the modem and check that at least one light is lit on its case. If this does not restore the service, contact our technical service. We can help you restore it.

How to access the Smart RG modem’s management panel?

1 Locate the administrator password

Below or behind the Smart RG modem case, a label with (WIFI) is affixed.

If this label (WIFI) is not present, you can use the lowercase letter “s” followed by the last 7 characters of the serial number. The latter is also visible on the modem label.

Examples of labels

2 Connect to the modem

The device used must be connected to the Smart RG modem’s network. You can connect it to the modem with a network cable plugged into one of the LAN ports or use its wireless network network (WiFi).

To connect via wireless (WiFi), follow the method described in How to connect to the wireless network (Wi-Fi) Modem Smart RG linked at the bottom of this page.

3 Access the management panel

In a browser, enter the following address: http://192.168.1.1/admin/

On the screen, enter the following username: admin

On the screen, enter the administrator password.

4 In case of problems

If no page is displayed on the address in step 3, first verify that you can reach other web pages, eg google.com.

If this does not work, then repeat step 2. If it does, then check that you are using exactly the web address in step 3.

If this does not solve the problem neither, restart the modem and check that at least one light is lit on its case.

If any of these steps do not correct the situation, contact our technical suport center. We can help you.

If your password is not accepted in step 3 , use the password (s) set for your wireless network (WiFi) instead.

If this does does not correct the situation, contact our technical suport center. We can help you.

How to connect to the wireless network (WiFi) of the Smart RG modem?

1 Locate the administrator password

Below or behind the Smart RG modem case, a label with (WIFI) is affixed.

If this label (WIFI) is not present, you can use the lowercase letter “s” followed by the last 7 characters of the serial number. The latter is also visible on the modem label.

Examples of labels

2 Select the wireless network (WiFi)

The modem’s wireless network (WiFi) names may be those established by B2B2C before it is sent, or those you have defined later.

Certains modèle de modem Smart RG ont deux réseaux, 5,6 et 2,4 Ghz, alors que d’autres seulement le 2,4 Ghz.

From the device you want to connect, look for a wireless network called B2B2C-XXX-5G, B2B2C-XXX or the name you have chosen.

Note that the “XXX” represents 3 random numbers. These numbers will be different for each modem.

By default, the 5.6 Ghz network is identified by the term 5G, the other is the 2.4 Ghz

We recommend using the 5.6 Ghz network in the majority of cases; the 2.4 network is generally slower. On the other hand, if your equipment will be used far from the modem, the 2.4 Ghz has often more reach and may be preferable.

3 Enter password

Enter the password identified in step 1 when requested by your equipment.

4 In case of problems

If your password is not accepted, first make sure you are using the correct network name. Several wireless networks (WiFi) may be visible from your equipment that are not the ones of your modem.

If this does not correct the situation. Access the Smart RG Modem Management Panel to check the wireless network name and password (WiFi). Follow the instructions for in the article titled “How to access the Smart RG Modem Management Panel?” linked at the bottom of this page.

If you’re unable to access teh Internet from your device, check that you can reach the Internet from another device on the same network. If this is the case, then in your wifi settings, forget the wireless network and reconnect to it by following the steps above.

If more than one device can not use the network, restart the modem and verify that at least one light is on its case.

If this still does not correct the situation, please contact our technical support center. We can help you.
